Saturday 7th February
Albany Theatre (CVFolk Workshop with Coventry Singer Songwriters)
Albany Road, Coventry CV5 6JQ
Words or music – which comes first?
This is possibly the most frequently asked question for people who write songs. Whether you are an aspiring composer or an established writer with experiences to share, it’s a good enough starting point to launch a fascinating and productive discussion on what inspires and how that inspiration leads to the lyrics and melody that make a song memorable.
Members of the Coventry Singer Songwriters group will be here to host this seminar/workshop complete with performances of some of their best compositions. Launched in 2010, Coventry Singer Songwriters is a community of local musicians who meet monthly to support, motivate and inspire each other to write new material. Group members and leading singer-songwriters on the local folk circuit, Paul Monks and Jane Moss (of Yonderland), John Kearney, Bob Wilkinson and CSS founder Jon Harrington will be taking part and revealing where they believe inspiration can be found.
Admission is £8 (£5 concessions) – book in advance or pay at the Box Office when you arrive.
PLEASE NOTE THE 2PM START TIME.
